Life throws a curve ball sometimes that we aren’t always expecting.
Sometimes life throws a curve ball at us without warning. It can catch us completely off guard, and knock us out of balance. In the moment when it happens, it may not always feel like a positive thing, but with time, we can often begin to understand why. When life throws a curve ball unexpectedly, it seems to bring out every emotion inside of us all at once. It’s overwhelming, it can be exciting, but it can also be scary.
Our first instinct is to react, to try and understand why it happened. Why didn’t we see it coming? Maybe we knew it was coming, but we were in denial, we just didn’t want to accept the inevitable.
Whether we were completely unprepared, or subconsciously aware, it can still leave us feeling hurt, lost, and even angry. We can even become irrational, and our minds can start racing with ways to try and fix it.
What happens when life throws a curve ball we just can’t fix? This is when we have to decide how we’re going to handle the setback, and move forward.
We can’t prepare for when life throws us a curve ball, or can we? Life itself is unpredictable, and not everything always goes as planned. This doesn’t mean we should always prepare for the worst, but we shouldn’t live in a fantasy land where we believe everything is always going to be perfect either.
There are things we can do to deal with life’s curve balls to help soften the blow. It will take time, but If we accept what is thrown our way, and handle it properly, it can end up working to our advantage.
7 things to do when life throws a curve ball
1. Don’t panic. When you panic, you aren’t able to think rationally. You need to take some time to assess the situation. Slow down, don’t make any decisions right away, and give yourself some time to process everything.
2. Assess the situation. If it’s a life changing event, it doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing. It may be the universe trying to tell you it’s time for change. It could be the perfect time to change your life for the better.
3. Change equals growth. This is just another lesson from life, don’t waste the opportunity to learn from it. Stop to take the time to think about what you have already learned, and what new things you’ll be learning as you move forward.
4. Cry about it. Crying doesn’t make you weak, it’s your body’s natural way of releasing your emotions about the situation. Holding your emotions in will only allow them to build, and they’ll rise to the surface eventually.
5. Consider the pros. This could be an opportunity to try something new and different. You may not realize how much your previous situation was holding you back. A fresh start can give you a whole new perspective on life.
6. Keep an open mind. Be careful of how you respond to the situation. Don’t allow one setback affect other aspects of your life. If you’re not careful, you can get stuck in a negative cycle.
7. Choose to see the positive. Focusing on the positives isn’t always easy when life throws you a curve ball you weren’t expecting. By using mindfulness, it can help you to concentrate on the positive aspects. Besides, negative thinking is only going to attract more negativity into your life, and you definitely don’t want that.
It’s not always easy to deal with life’s curve balls, but with the right mindset, you can get through it.
You never know what life has in store for you. If you can learn to take the bad with the good, learn from it, and keep moving forward, you’ll realize you can accomplish anything you set your mind to!
A lot of times we don’t realize how much power and control we DO have. We get to choose how we react to things that are thrown our way. We get to choose to give up, or keep going. Life is full of an unlimited amount of options.
After all, life is just one big adventure, and there is so much we can learn from every aspect of it. It really is all about having a positive attitude, and understanding that bad moments don’t equal a bad life. Sometimes all we can do is just roll with it, and see where it carries us.
